WHAT I DO
Specialising in the natural history, outdoor, adventure and science documentaries, I can work on productions in a number of ways. As a cinematographer first and a producer/director second, I am able to capture moments which are both visually engaging and tell a wider story. The addition of my aerial permissions means I can set the scene from all angles – on the ground and in the air. I’m also a specialist in filming with non-visible wavelengths (ultraviolet, infrared and thermal) and have my own modified kit for this purpose.
Skilled and experienced in using the latest large format camera technology from manufacturers including Arri, RED, Sony and Canon, I have also received full training from Sony in the operation of their cinema camera range and 4K workflow – plus I’m a Canon C500 MkII owner/operator.
I have a thorough understanding of pitching and developing projects – plus a friendly and open attitude which aids in identifying narratives during production. This ensures that I am able to develop stories through sequences and productions.
Approved by the CAA to undertake commercial aerial operations, I am able to produce aerial footage safely and to the highest quality with a DJI Mavic 2 Pro – by shooting in 10 bit 4:2:2 D-Log, my footage can be matched with any number of cameras on a production.
I am very conscious of the environmental impact of filming; being a wildlife filmmaker, I’ve seen first hand some of the damage that humans are doing to the planet – and some of the good we can do when we put our minds to it.
GET IN TOUCH
If you’re looking for a wildlife filmmaker or drone pilot, please do get in touch. If I’m away or on location shooting, please leave me a message and I’ll respond to you as soon as I can.
Please be aware that I often work freelance for other production companies and therefore cannot take on assistants or those looking for work experience. I appreciate your interest in my work, though I’m not able to facilitate everyone’s request for on location experience.
